Sunday night and I’m chilling on the couch with my favorite, watching Love Actually as the rain keeps pouring down. Whatever happened to snow?
Anyway, I love this movie, it’s standard to watch it sometime during christmas… and I think I have, for the last three years at least. Such a sweet, feel good flick! One of the best parts is when Lynden David Hall sings All You Need Is Love. Not because his version is all that impressive but because he is and I seem to forget. Then I watch this movie and I get reminded. Sexy Cinderella…. Do I Qualify? Maaaan, why is he not still here?
I love finding new talents and with a voice like this… WOW. No, I think SWAG is the appropriate word. I know what I’ll be home listening to when the rain hits my windowpane. With a cup of green tea Daley can join me any time.
Couldn’t decide which video to post so decided on both. You can also download his mixtape here.
Like I wise man once told me: “Don’t define, just write.”
It has been FOREVER. I said to myself that I wouldn’t post anything here until my mixtape was done. I thought that maybe it would happen faster that way. BAD IDEA.
Enough about that. I have a new tune on the piano that I wanna share with you. A love song (of course). I love writing these songs because it always starts of with me thinking about a situation, usually involving me and some guy, it then takes on from there and becomes something else. But I always remember who inspired me and listening back to the songs 1, 3, 8 years later, it always takes me back to that situation. THAT GUY. It’s like a time capsule of love. So corny
Anyways, here it is. And like Drake said, this one is for you.
Just realized I never posted my new You Tube video here… I get confused with all the blogs, not gonna lie. There’s Facebook, Myspace, Tumblr, Twitter… all different ways of expressing the life of me.
Anyway, Distant Lover is a song I put together while observing my neighbours. Not really but really. My piano faces the window so even though I’m not really watching them they are there. Well, what can you do?
I was very much inspired by my surroundings when I wrote this song… Pictured myself at a close by café (Bagel Street), spotting a handsome regular, fantasising about this perfect stranger. I don’t wanna know about your life, if you have a girlfriend.. wife.. children. Don’t want to be let down. I would just like to come here all the time and you could be my distant lover…
I’ll be m.i.a. from all these social blogs for a few days since I’m going to London to se ALICIA KEYS!!! It’s been 10 years since she released her debut album Songs In A Minor (crazy how time flies!) so what better reason to put together a concert? Woop woop! Jealous much?
“feels like the situation is a hundred years old. like this imogen heap song never ages. perplexing how the playground seems like such a far walk to walk backwards. i would kill to ride those wood swings. wisdom gave me mood swings. time gave me bad lemons. what do i know? nothing. not a damn thing. i wouldn’t say i knew my language had it not been for the critical acclaim. i’m still suspicious. and where the fuck is my girlfriend.”
- Frank Ocean
I’ve been hearing A LOT about this guy for a really long time. Almost grew sick of him, hearing about him… Frank Ocean. What kind of name is that? Did he get it from the Ocean movies? You know when the hype gets too big and everyone tells you that you HAVE TO listen to this guy! Have to! Have to? I don’t have to do anything and I will listen to him in my own time, when the time is right. When I feel like it. stubborn, that’s me.
Anyway, a couple of weeks a go I had dinner at a friend’s house and he told me about this hip hop collective from L.A. called Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All Don’t Give A Fuck Litter Life Bacon Boys Loiter Squad, simply put – Odd Future or OFWGKTA. He showed me a video, disturbing yet genius, that was put out by the leader of the pack – Tyler the Creator. I was amazed, intrigued and yesterday I decided to do some research on these guys, these 17-24 year old guys. Well guess whos name came up?! FRANK OCEAN!
Ok, so I DECIDED it was time to dig into this Frank Ocean. I turned to google where I quickly find out that he is 24 years old, he joined OFWGKTA in 2009, he’s been writing for Brandy, John Legend, Beyoncé and Justin Beiber and he recently released the mixtape Nostalgia/ultra – DOWNLOAD HERE. Just do it.
So now I have to admit, after listening to his mixtape over and over and over again, that I absolutely LOVE this guy and I regret that it took me so long to fin that out. I blame my stubbornness and promise myself to change.
