Where do I start?

I’m back. Been back for a week, fysically anyway. Such a huge contrast, Tanzania and Sweden. At this time of year they are almost polar opposites, +30°C VS -10°C. Yeah, do you blame me for wanting to go back?! I love snow, I do, but I think I would enjoy this country a little bit more if the Atlantic Ocean was replaced with the Indian Ocean and Denmark was swapped with Zanzibar (no offence). But, that’s not gonna happen so I just have to adapt and like it. So here I am, liking it… or, trying to at least. One thing’s for sure, I’ll be back in Tanzania soon. This time it won’t take me 13 years.

2010 is finally here and I am curious about what this year has to bring. 2009 was full of surprises (good and bad) so I’m quite sure 2010 won’t be any different. I already have a few things coming up that I am excited about. Can’t say anything right now but I’ll let you know in time. I will, however, probably spend some more time in Stockholm and I really don’t mind, that way I can have the cookie and eat it too :) .

This is where I start. A blog update and I’m on my way. I’m gonna sit down with my piano and have a session. I might not be sitting under a tree in the warm and sunny Dar-es-Salaam but if I close my eyes it feels like I’m there… Yeah right. Who am I fooling? It’s too cold for that. But I guess I can always look at these picture…

I’m going back to my roots…

In  3 weeks I’ll be in Tanzania. I can’t even describe how excited I am!! Maybe you would have a better understanding of my excitement if I had actually put some information in my “About” section.. So, here’s a quick bio:

My dad is from Tanzania and he met my mom when he was studying in Sweden. I was born in Lund but we moved to Tanzania when I was one year old. After living there for almost two years my mom and I moved back to Sweden and since then I’ve been there only three times, and the last time was 13 years ago!!! So I am not only going to an exotic and beautiful country.. I’m going home, or what used to be my home for a couple of years. I’m going back to my roots and I haven’t been there in 13 years. That’s a lot. So yeah, I’m excited, I’m amped and I’m a little bit nervous…..

I think I’m gonna have to turn to my piano for some therapy when I’m back home in January…

Enjoy the weekend and check out the YouTube clip I posted of Miriam Makeba singing “Pata Pata”. This was my favourite song as a child, I would sing it everywhere… even at the dinner table (bad manners, I know). But it makes me happy, so thank you Miriam Makeba and may you rest in peace.
